Terms of Service

These terms cover your Ottsa license, your account on my.ottsa.com, what you buy from us, and our affiliate program. Please read them carefully. They explain what you can expect from us and what we expect from you.

Last updated October 30, 2026

01The agreement

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between Ottsa, of Bucharest, Romania (“Ottsa”, “we”, “us”), and the business that creates an account on my.ottsa.com, orders a license or a trial, installs Ottsa, or joins our affiliate program (“you”). By doing any of these, you accept these Terms.

If you accept on behalf of a company, you confirm that you have the authority to bind it. Ottsa is software for businesses and is not meant for personal or household use. You must be at least 18 years old to accept these Terms.

If we have signed a written agreement with you, for example for custom development, that agreement takes priority where it conflicts with these Terms.

02Your account

You buy and manage licenses, open support tickets and join the affiliate program from your account on my.ottsa.com.

  • Keep your account details accurate, including a working email address and your billing details.
  • You are responsible for everything done from your account, including by the users you give access to, and for keeping their sign-in details secure. We strongly recommend two-factor authentication.
  • Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account was used without your permission.

03Your license

A license lets you install Ottsa on hosting you control and use it to run your own business, including serving your clients through its client area. It is non-exclusive and cannot be transferred without our written consent.

  • One live install. Each license covers one live install of Ottsa, on one domain. When it is first activated, it is tied to that domain, the server's IP address and the folder Ottsa runs in.
  • Development copies. Copies for development and testing are free and need no extra license, as long as they run on localhost, on a .test or .local name, or on a private IP address, and do not serve real clients.
  • Moving. To move to a new server, domain or folder, reissue the license from your account and activate it on the new install. You can do this yourself 3 times in 30 days; for more, open a ticket.
  • Your brand. You may present Ottsa to your clients under your own name and brand, without mentioning us.
  • Changes. You may change the code, themes and settings of your own install, and you own the plugins and themes you write. We can only support Ottsa as we ship it.

You may not sell, rent, sublicense or give away Ottsa or a license key; share a license between live installs; or remove, bypass or interfere with the license check.

04Leased and owned licenses

  • Leased. Paid monthly or yearly, and valid for as long as you renew it. Updates and support are included while it is paid. If it is not renewed, your client area, payments, invoicing and provisioning keep running, but 14 days later the admin settings pages become read-only and updates are paused until you renew.
  • Owned. Paid once, and never expires. It includes 12 months of updates and support. After that, you can renew updates and support yearly, or keep using your current version without new releases or support.
  • Every license includes every feature, with unlimited clients, staff, services and domains. We never charge per client or take a share of your payments.

05Free trial

You can order a free trial license on my.ottsa.com without a payment card. It includes every feature and is valid for 14 days, so you can install Ottsa on your own hosting and evaluate it, including the WHMCS importer on a copy of your data. A trial is provided as is, for evaluation only.

To continue after the trial, buy a leased or owned license and enter its key in your install. Your data stays in place.

06Prices, payment and refunds

  • Prices. Prices are shown on our pricing page and at checkout, in US dollars, before tax.
  • Tax. Where VAT or a similar tax applies, it is added at checkout, based on your country and your VAT number.
  • Payment. Licenses and renewals are paid in advance, through the payment methods offered at checkout. Your card details are handled by the payment provider, never by us.
  • Renewals. We invoice each renewal before it is due. You can stop renewing at any time; there is no contract or cancellation fee.
  • Price changes. We will never raise the price of a license or of updates and support. As Ottsa grows, we may lower our prices.
  • Refunds. You can ask for a full refund within 14 days of a license's first payment. Renewals, including renewals of updates and support, are not refunded, except where the law requires it. A refunded license stops working.

07Updates and support

  • Updates. While your license includes updates, your install is offered each new release, signed by us, to install from the admin area. Read each release's notes, and keep a backup, before you update.
  • Support. While your license includes support, you can ask us for help with Ottsa by ticket from your account or by email. We aim to reply within one business day.
  • What support covers. Installing, configuring, updating and using Ottsa as we ship it. It does not cover your server or hosting, code you changed, third-party plugins, or the services Ottsa connects to, although we will help where we reasonably can.
  • Older versions. Some fixes need the latest release, so we may ask you to update first.
  • Features marked beta or preview are provided as they are, and may change or be withdrawn.

08Your install and your data

Ottsa runs on hosting you choose and control. You are responsible for that hosting, its security, the PHP version and other requirements, your backups, and the settings of your install.

  • Your data. The data in your install, such as your clients, services, invoices, domains and tickets, is yours. It stays on your server, and we do not receive it.
  • The license check. Your install regularly contacts our license server, sending its license key, an install ID, its domain and folder, and its Ottsa and PHP versions. Our server also sees its IP address. We use this only to check the license and offer updates. Our Privacy Policy explains it in full.
  • Access for support. If you give us access to your install so we can help, we use it only for that request, access only what it needs, and keep what we see confidential. For any personal data we see, you remain the controller and we act on your instructions.
  • You are responsible for having a lawful basis to collect and use your clients' data, and for the privacy notices you give them.

09Your clients and their payments

You are solely responsible for the products and services you sell with Ottsa, your terms with your clients, your prices and taxes, and your compliance with the laws and registry rules that apply to your business.

Ottsa is software, not a payment processor. Your clients pay through the payment gateways you connect, under your own agreements with them, and Ottsa never holds your money. You are responsible for your gateway accounts, including fees, chargebacks, disputes and payouts.

Ottsa carries out automated actions, such as creating invoices, charging saved payment methods, applying late fees and suspending or terminating services, according to the settings and rules you configure. Review them before you go live and whenever you change them. We are not responsible for the outcome of actions carried out as you configured them.

10Integrations and plugins

Ottsa connects to third-party services such as control panels, hypervisors, domain registrars, payment gateways and email providers. Your use of them is governed by your agreements with their providers, and we are not responsible for their availability, fees or actions. If a provider changes or withdraws its API, we may need to change or remove the related integration.

Plugins and themes from other developers are their responsibility, not ours, even when they use Ottsa's plugin SDK.

11Enterprise and custom work

We build custom features, plugins and integrations on top of a license. Tell us what you need at [email protected] and we reply with a quote by email. Custom work starts once we both agree in writing on its scope, price, schedule and who owns the result.

12Affiliate program

You can join our affiliate program from your my.ottsa.com account, without a license. By joining, you accept these affiliate terms as well as the rest of these Terms.

  • Referrals. A new customer who orders within 90 days of following your affiliate link is your referral for as long as they remain a customer. A referral link cannot claim an existing customer, and your own orders, or those of a business you own or control, never earn commission.
  • Commission. You earn 20% of every payment your referral makes to us, before tax. Commission is based on what they actually pay: a refund reverses the commission it earned, and a cancellation stops further commissions.
  • Payouts. Each commission becomes available 30 days after the payment it came from. Once your available balance reaches $50, you can request a withdrawal, either as credit toward your own Ottsa license or as a payment to your PayPal or bank account. You are responsible for any taxes on what you earn.
  • Promoting Ottsa. Content, reviews, comparisons and tutorials are welcome. Do not send spam, make misleading claims or present yourself as Ottsa, bid on our brand name in search ads or use it in ad domains, or set referral cookies without a real visit to your link. Where the law requires it, tell your audience that you earn a commission.
  • Our rights. We may refuse or close an affiliate account and withhold commission earned in breach of these terms. We may change the program, including its rates, with 30 days' notice; commission already earned stays yours.

13Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use Ottsa for unlawful purposes, or to sell services you know are being used for illegal activity;
  • send unsolicited bulk email or messages with Ottsa;
  • attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours, or probe, scan or load-test my.ottsa.com, our license server or our update server without our written permission;
  • upload malware, or interfere with the security or performance of our services.

To test Ottsa's security, test your own install, and report what you find to [email protected] as our disclosure policy describes.

14Intellectual property

Ottsa and its software, design and documentation belong to us and our licensors. A license gives you the rights these Terms describe; it does not transfer ownership of the software to you. Open-source components that ship with Ottsa remain under their own licenses.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them to improve Ottsa without any obligation to you.

15Confidentiality

Each of us will protect the other's non-public business information with reasonable care, use it only for the purposes of this agreement, and share it only with people who need to know it and are bound by similar obligations. This does not apply to information that is public, already known, independently developed, or that must be disclosed by law.

16Ending the agreement

  • You can stop renewing a license at any time, and close your my.ottsa.com account by asking us.
  • We may end a license if you materially breach these Terms, for example by sharing a license key or bypassing the license check, and do not remedy the breach within 14 days of our notice. We may act immediately if that is necessary to protect our services, other customers or the public.
  • When a license ends, you must stop using Ottsa under it on live installs. Your data stays on your server, and you can keep exporting it.
  • Sections that by their nature should survive, including fees owed, confidentiality, disclaimers and limitation of liability, survive the end of the agreement.

17Disclaimers

Except as these Terms expressly say, Ottsa is provided “as is”, and we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows. Because Ottsa runs on hosting we do not control, we cannot guarantee how it will perform there.

Ottsa helps you calculate invoices, prorations and taxes from your settings, but it is not tax, legal or accounting advice. You are responsible for checking that your configuration meets your obligations.

18Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, neither of us is liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data, even if told they were possible.

Each party's total liability under these Terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim. These limits do not apply to your payment obligations, to either party's indemnity obligations, or to liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

19Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify Ottsa against third-party claims arising from the services you sell to your clients, the data in your install, or your breach of these Terms. We will defend and indemnify you against third-party claims that the Ottsa software, as we ship it, infringes their intellectual property rights.

The party asking for indemnity must tell the other promptly, let it control the defence, and cooperate reasonably.

20Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as Ottsa grows. For material changes, we will email account owners at least 30 days before they take effect. If you do not agree with a change, you can stop renewing before it takes effect. Continuing to use your license, account or affiliate link after that date means you accept the updated Terms.

21Governing law and contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania, without regard to their conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved by the competent courts of Bucharest, Romania.
